What I mean is who is locked in to the Daytona 500 before the twin 150's?? I think it's based on owner points from last year but what is the basis? Is Bobby Labonte locked into the Daytona field?

Good answer thanks. I think the first duel is what? Positions 3-5-7-9 and through? And then perhaps 2-4-6-8, etc? Or is the other way around

The only position that is locked in from quailifing is the pole. The rest of the positions are set by alternating the finishing order from the duels. I also believe that there are 3 past champion provisionals for spots 41-43.

The only two cars that are locked in are the cars that qualified first and second. The rest of the official qualifying spots are determined by the two qualifying 125 mile races on Thursday. If cars do not qualify in these races do to crashes or car troubles they can be added to the 500 IF they had owner point compiled from last year. If any car is running but does not qualify through the twin 125's they may or may not get in depending upon their qualifying speed. This year there are a ton of cars trying to qualify things will be interesting to say the least.
