I've been invited to a money shower for a friend that's getting married. I recognize that many people have opinions about how wrong it is to ask for money, but the point is I've been invited and the invitation clearly states it's a money shower. I am going to attend because she is a friend. I'm looking for some suggestions on what is the appropriate amount to give. I don't want to look cheap and I'm not sure what others might be giving since I've never experienced a money shower before. I would normally bring a gift of approximately $50 value to a shower for a friend like this. Any suggestions on how much money to give and what I can expect will be the average gift from the other guests?

If you would normally spend $50 on a gift, then that's what I would give. It honestly doesn't matter how much the other guests give, it's what you can afford to give. I got many gifts of cash when I got married, some gave us $10, others gave us $100, its just dependent on what they could afford. Remember, any gift, even cash, is from the heart, and it's seriously not the size of the gift, its the intent that's the most important.

I totally agree with "Basket", the other answerer.
Just so people don't get the wrong idea about Ukrainians, I am one from a huge Ukrainian community and I have never heard of such a thing as this. It is totally unlike Ukrainians in general - we usually are big lovers of gift giving!
Just give the equivalent of what you would normally spend. Don't worry about what anyone else is.
By the way, girls who do this don't know what they are missing by opening up all the cool little funky and interesting gifts at the shower!

Depends on how close you are to this friend of yours and where this shower is taking place. You mention its a Ukrainian shower but is it in the Ukraine? If it is then I would say $50-80. The Ukrainian economy is really bad anyway so that sort of money has higher value if that is the case.
