if it's head isn't buried in yet you can just pull it off and flush it.. but if it is buried, then get some rubbing alcohol and soak it till he lets go... then flush it..

post care: just keep it clean like any cut or abrasion.. the odds of you getting limes disease is pretty low.. but if you get a rash that won't go away or spreads, or a fever... within the next 7 days or so.. see a doctor.

I'm guessing a lot of the people who have answered thus far don't live in the south.. in the summer and fall here getting a tick while out in the woods is a daily affair.. and in the entirety of my life I have known 2 people to get ill from it, and only heard of a handful more.. .. just watch the wound and check for a rash that won't go away and be conscious of if you have fever or not.. you'll be fine.

Keep the tick. Take it to the local county extension office to have them verify that it is a deer tick. Go to your doctor. He can give you advice on when the bulls eye rash appears. If it does, you must get help immediately. Deer ticks cause lyme disease which causes many debilitation neurological problems if not treated early. I believe antibiotics are used early, but you MUST catch it early or you will suffer life long debilitating problems.

Go to the doctors immediately and take the tick with you(put it in a petree dish) because it might be carrying a disease. That happened to me once and I was told I had Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever; I had to be hospitalized for a week. Please, I urge you, go to the doctors!

seriously go to the Dr and tell him/her that you got a Deer Tick and get a blood test for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.
That can kill you.
So do not take the chance that you might not have it.

Make sure you have not been bitten so that you have not been infected with Lyme Disease. If you have, you will need treatment, so if you see a "bulls-eye rash" or experience any symptoms, see a physician as soon as possible.

its gonna sound gross, but you need to kill it.either with tweezers and smush it or with a lighter and burn it.make a note on the calendar when you removed the tick and watch yourself for symptoms of lyme diesease.

Call your doctor. (Put the tick in a baggie just in case they want it.)
