ok, i just got my puppy about a month ago. It is a a yorkie and i cant seem to get it potty trained. I want her to go to the door to tell me that she wants to go outside. I put her in my backyard about every 1-2 hours and i tried just waiting and seeing if she would stand by the door and she just went in my front room. i reward her when she goes outside but she cant seem to learn. I need some tips or ideas. Also, im not getting the pads.

If you got her a month ago, she's probably around 3 months now, so still very young!

I've used this method with every dog I've ever had (Including older ones that I've rescued) and always had sucess:

Monitor her food and water intake (Don't leave them down on the floor) until she's potty trained.

Take her out 1st thing in the morning, about 20 minutes after she eats or drinks anything, every 2 hours or so and before you go to bed at night. Stay outside until she goes, then PRAISE PRAISE PRAISE when she does her business.

If she has an accident, don't scold her hard - Show it to her (Don't rub her nose in it...), tell her NO, then bring her outside. Clean the spot really well with Urine Out to remove the scent, otherwise, she'll tend to go back to it.

Most of all, be patient - It won't happen overnight, but within 2-3 weeks, she'll be getting the idea that outside is the place to go and learn to go to the door you always take her out through - Be consistent and use the same door.

Are you crate training this puppy? I have found it is the best way to train a dog.
You get a crate (and since this is a Yorkie I suggest a very small crate). You dog should have enough room to stand up and turn around in its crate. A too big crate will be a problem, as your dog will urinate or poop on one side of the crate and sleep on the other. Keep your puppy in the crate most of the time. When you take her/him out, take her right outside and give her treats if she goes.
You must take her out right after eating and drinking, right when you remove her from her crate, and before bed. Keep in mind that your Yorkie is young and has a small bladder.
Good luck

Training a canine . Of any age, to head external is in the beginning very time ingesting. This is why so many do not get informed. A dog is a creature of habit. Some thing it does again and again turns into a addiction for the canine. So how do you are making going outside a addiction? You're taking it external each hour until the canine starts displaying you someway that it needs to go external. How lengthy this takes will depend on the canine. I take mine to the equal spot external where he smells the pee. I say ' "hurry up" - or some cue phrase Now, each time I say ' Hurry up ", he goes. There may just typically when dog is available in and pees - specially in the winter_ however you stick with the plan. The plan generally fails when you consider that house owners are in too giant a rush to get inside. Jogging rapid down a block will also purpose a canine to poo/pee.

I have a Yorkie and had the same problem. I crate trained him. While we weren't home he went into a kennel. When we are home he went out every 45 min to 1 hour and was rewarded with treats when he did his business outside. If they do go in the house, you pick them up, tell them "no potty in the house", and take them outside. They are stubborn little dogs and sometimes you have to wait awhile but when I have him outside, I wait until he goes to take him back in.

Potty training requires a lot of Patience. The more effort you put in...the bigger the reward. Some dogs can take as little as 7 days...some as long as 7 months. Don't give up and don't use the peepee pads. Anytime she eats/drinks...take her outside to do her business. I have found that for the 1st month the ONLY reasons to go outside are for them to do their business and to take a walk. No playing, no funtime. I had alot of luck using this method along with a crate. Best of luck!

Your on the right track...keep rewarding her for going potty outside. Also you need to punish her for accidents in the house. if she pees in the house, rub her nose in it and tell her no...or buy a cage that she fits into, the only room she should have to stand up turn around and lay back down...if dogs have room in a cage to pee they will but they won't pee or poop in a cage if they have to lay in it.

Try crate training...but if she is going to be in the crate for an extended period of time, you may need to put a pad on one side of the crate. Puppies most certainly WILL pee/poop in their crate whether they have to lay in it or not. My 9 week old bassett hound peed in her bed yesterday! (I work all day and she is in her crate) It's frustrating...I'm with you on that! Good Luck!
