I hope you have a very enjoyable stay in Australia. There are mosques in Townsville, Mackay and Mareeba as well as quite a number in southeast Queensland. There is a list of mosques, halal restaurants and other places for information for Muslims travelling in Queensland here:

One point about driving from Brisbane to Cairns. There is a lot of sugar cane up that way and at times it is like driving through a green tunnel with not much to see. Take diversions to some of the beaches, national parks and other places to see along the way to get the most out of some beautiful country.

At the sundown prayer in a Muslim nation you can be beaten with the Azan from the mosques surrounding you. For different four prayers you can also concentrate to an Azan after yet another Azan from the encompassing mosques.

Remember it is ten hours (or more) on the road from Brisbane to Mackay - probably more like 12. Mackay to Townsville - another four on the road.

Far North Queensland... Good Luck!
I doubt you'd find any Mosques, lots of Mosquito's, not that many Mosques. I'd say Brisbane would be your last point of call. Apart from that... Good Luck
