there must be other items she likes besides diamond earrings. even flowers could be a nice gesture.

it doesnt matter, its not about what you get but how you give it to her, sometimes a girl would appreciate you trying to spend a really nice evening with her more than a diamond ring
unless she's really materialistic then just try and have a good day with her, try to give her a few cheaper things, maybe just something you know she likes (eg if she likes strawberries then make sure you give them to her with some champagne, a nice movie and a hug)
apart from that:
- a toy is ALWAYS a good one, if it looks sweet and loveable she'll think youre cute

Buy her an Orchid. Tell her she is as beautiful as the flower. The orchid is a beautiful flower, and not as overused as the rose. I think it says a lot more about a man if he actually gets a woman something different other than a rose! oh and get her some chocolates c'mon!

a single rose with a little love note attached, make sure you're dressed real nice when you present it. Or...an old classic romantic movie like Sleepless in Seatle, Casablanca, or Dirty Dancing, with popcorn and candy

why not a romatic card, women love poems and stuff of that nature, maybe get her a single rose, make her a candle lit dinner
