It shouldn't matter whether he's Mormon or not. Why on earth would we judge someone based on their religion? Especially a politician. We need to judge a man based on his morals, his record and his agenda. People that won't vote for someone because he happens to be Mormon are ignorant or either the religion or how our government works. Government and religion are seperate, and the Mormon faith supports this. The Mormon faith teaches that people should be involved with their community, should become educated, and should vote accordingly, but the Church doesn't tell you how to vote. That's why there are both Democrats and Republican Mormons (e.g. See Harry Reid (D) and Orin Hatch (R)). Romney does have it going for him that he's not a lifelong politician and he has about as much business sense as anyone. He has also worked with both parties in trying to get things done. I still haven't made my mind up on who I will vote for, but I will give all of them an honest shake and won't judge them on irrelevant matters.

Definitely yes. The Mormons are one of the few groups in this country that actually seem to have their s$#% together. Mitt Romney in particular seems to be a very honest, decent fellow and an effective leader too.
For all those who answered "no"....why? Is it just bigotry or is there actually a valid policy-based reason? Just curious....

There is a person I would vote for for president, if he ever runs, who happens to be Mormon.

I am LDS, and let me put it this way...I think Mit Romney is someone who's political record I agree with and can support.
There are other LDS politicians out there that I wouldn't want to support, because I just don't like their political record, or the way they stand on issues.
So yea, I think people need to be open to the idea of electing people from different religions, but really when it comes down to it, forget their religion, and focus on their stance on issues and political record.

We basically already have a Bringham Young running this country, by taking over and invading our rights and privacy. So no we do not need anymore people like that. Why would you want someone like that to run this country, cause Bringham Young was not a nice person if you look at the mormon history.

I don't care whether he is Mormon or not - I only care that he is Christian. I haven't decided yet, I need to hear more of his stands on the issues before making a decision. I know that based on the little that I do know - he'd be better than the three liberal front runners at this point and time.

Hey handsome. I don't care what religion our president is as long as he keeps religion out of the oval office and our laws.

It is high time we had an atheist president rather than one that bases his decisions on some invisible mythological construct.
