what everyday encounters may possible cause a flairup of pain attributed to sickle cell? perhaps something like a dusty library for instance?

The actual pain of sickle is cause by tissue level ischemia (low blood flow and oxygen deliver to tissue). When a sickling crisis occurs, the sickling cells block tiny blood vessels which causes pain.
