Two recent questions posted by Mahal, apparently a member of the U.S. Military from the way he speaks, have accused us of not doing enough to prevent the Shi'a and other radical groups from committing terroristic acts. In a weird sense of it, he does bring up a good point. Is there anything you feel that we can do to help speak out against these radicals, who are giving the rest us a bad name, or are they too indulged in their belief that they are right that they are beyond help?

Allen, if you read the question, I said Shi'a and other radical groups. I'm not asking ONLY of the Shi'a, but all others who wrongly commit acts of terrorism in the name of Allah.

Also, to all non-Muslims:
The practice of forming sects is actually forbidden in Islam. I consider myself to be a Muslim. Not Sunni, Shi'ite, or anything else. Just a Muslim. These groups have forgotten that and allowed political gains come before their fealty to Allah.

This a view that people hold, it's not something tangible that you can change that easily. It's a lack of religious education! We are taking steps to combat it, if you're in the UK flick on the Islamic Channel/ Unity tv or QTV. Just take a look on the internet.

Why do you condemn the Shi'a as a whole when it's only extremist factions within Shi'ism carrying out these acts? "The Shi'a and other radical groups"? Shi'ism is not any more radical by nature than Sunni Islam.
Anyway, the problem is not just that you have to speak out against these groups. They are drawing on sources in your tradition which are genuinely problematic. Until you are able to criticize your tradition, until you are able to criticize and relativize the Qur'an and the Sunnah in the same way that Christians have been criticizing and relativizing their own scriptures and traditions for 200 years -- there will be no hope for a victory over extremism.

To As-Salaamu Alaikum, Thank you for asking this question because it needs an answer. America is called the great Satan by the Islamic world and this is caused by the Religous Leaders not taking a firm stand against war. See Bible : James 4:1-4
The important thing to remember is that the God of the bible makes it clear that those who take the sword will die by the sword. True followers of God will be neutral in all world conflicts.
Then as a believer a person needs to remember there are just two sides to take. You either serve the true God or you serve the god of this world. Satan. If you assume that you have the right way then by your actions you reap what you sow. What I say in short is It would be necessary for you to look at your teachings as I have look at mine. If in your teachings you can justify Murder, rape, liers, dishonesty, wars, and all the hurt man has caused each other, then you need to get away from it? As I have with my studies and have become neutral from this world.
In the book of God and I have found that the fight is not for man to finish. We all will witiness the great war of God, choosing sides now If we choose the wrong side then we will reap Destruction.
If we choose God's side then we will gain the same life that are first himan father would have had. Living on earth in peace and forever. See Revelation 21:3,4 Psalms 37:9-11,29, Mathew 5:5

Ok,let us be frank............Why all this violence and intolerance happen?Did all this amount of violence and killing happenned before the American occupation to Iraq?Did the U.S really found mass destruction weapons,or it was a big lie?
I am not defending Saddam.I am not defending Usama bin Laden because if he did or didn’t the 9/11 attacks he affected the whole muslim nation badly.
Killing other people is against the spirit of Islam. And what is happenning now is a complete mess and chaos between the sons of one country. The occupation of Iraq was and still a disaster.America has torn a country and now they cannot leave it.Why all this happenned??????????
To tell you the truth,If muslims really applied what Islam ordered them, christians adhered to their teachings of love and accepting other people, and all other people wanted peace and love within the world...We’ll have a better world....
I want to add another thing, before we are muslims, christians, jews, buddists, hindus,or even athiests We are in the first place human beings and all this blood shed of Iraqis victims four years ago and till now or American victims on 11/9 is human blood....
When we will live in peace.............................?
It seems that it is question without an answer....

so to you the Shi'a are terrorists? I agree with that, but what makes Sunnies so perfect? You got Hammas, Alqaida, and other crazy terrorist groups, so instead of just slamming the Shi'as don't forget your own people too.

Just hold the rope of Allah(SWT) i.e., the Holy Qur'an & the Sunnah of Muhammad(PBUH).
Don't bother abt the bad propaganda made by western media abt Islam. These are all saitanic acts.
We all Muslims are Brothers of each other irrespective of which ever sect one belong.

Mahal most likely is an israeli ---he just wana incite hate and but our faith at the blame point------the lack of not doing anything towords the extremists is because some of us do beleive that the us supports the extremists in indirect way -------i mean there is so many examples ---in early 80s----they harbored them in europe and afganistan and encourged their rise in countries like egypt to fight comunism.
i mean we should speak out about terrorism -----and prove to the whole world to NOT DO THAT IN OUR NAME OR iSLAM
god bless

You would have to massively protest, publicly and daily against them for anyone to take you serious now ,everyone thinks you are in agreement with the terrorists because you don't speak out against them, you don't protest what they are doing and because you don't do this everyone thinks you are in agreement with them.

I believe people have a rite to defend their homes by any means from any one. That includes killing up a bunch of foriegners to defend it. What you call terrorism I may call patriotism. Do those people see foriegn soldiers walking down their streets with guns? They do?
Your question is answered.

we alikum asslam brother,
who told him we don't ?!!
those sunni and shias fighting in iraq , it is in a complete mess, thanks to the Us forces!!!
those wars whether in iraq and palastine and in any other muslim countery , flammed hatery and terrorism in every where!!
about us ( muslims in general) , i think we should unite , undersand the true teachings and ethics of our religion and clarify them to ppl who don't understand it !
we should be a good example f islam , and follow our prophet's model.
islam is the relgion of peace , love , mercy and justice , any one wolud have a look in its history will see that!!
Muslims should beware of all routes and channels that may lead to divisions, differences and conflicts among them. They should abide by the Qur’an and Sunnah, which are the assured means of salvation. Almighty Allah says: (And hold fast, all of you together, by the covenant of Allah and be not divided among yourselves; and remember with gratitude Allah's favor on you; for ye were enemies and He joined your hearts in love, so that by His Grace, ye became brethren; and ye were on the brink of the pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus doth Allah make His Signs clear to you: That ye may be guided. ) (Aal `Imraan 3: 103)
may Allah guide us to his straight path!
