How about actually working....you are getting paid to work you know. Just because your actual job is done there are always
other things to do....like...clean the office....help others finish their
work for the day....Ask your supervisor even they have any
additional work that needs to be done. This could also help you
move ahead. If no promotions are available it could help you get
some experience that you can use in another job or position...Get
creative and come up with more ideas that can benefit you and
your company....

Answering Yahoo questions. Occassionally get up from your desk. Carry a few papers in your hand. Walk quickly to somewhere...anywhere. Now you're busy AND important.

Improve your job-related skills. Take on som more responsibility. Lacking those opportunities, use the downtime for your own education. Got a hobby? Read up on it...got computer access? Learn new words, do some creative writing, exercise your mind, even Sudoku will keep your brain cells percolating. boredom will kill your brain!

Think of new ways that they don't need you, and can save money by getting rid of you.
You will make more bucks doing that than you will by sitting at a desk.

When I'm not answering my phone I just pop in my ipod and work on my paperwork...before you know it, I'm jamming to my favorite tunes and my paperwork gets done faster. It really works for me moving the work faster and off of my desk. Good luck!
