You need to consume foods high in protein, and low in saturated fats and sugars. Protein helps build lean muscle mass -- as long as you're nto eating other junk food. To build muscle..you should consume atleast 1 gram or protein per pound of your weight..so if you weigh 175 lbs..you should be consuming atleast 175 grams of protein per day.

Egg Whites
Skinless Chicken
Cottage Cheese w/ Fruit
Skim MIlk
FISH!!!
Lean Ground Turkey
Brown Rice
Whole Wheat Pastas
Lean Beef
Peanut Butter
Non-Fat Yogurt
etc. etc.

Also....I use "Dymatize Rich Chocolate Whey Protein"..you can buy it on eBay for a great price...mix it with skim milk and it tastes like a great chocolate shake...I drink one in the morning..and one at night. Sometimes I blend the protein mix with milk, ice, and peanut butter....mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

As for lifting --

You can do a tricep extensions, curls, shoulder press, etc....simply with free weights....your best bet si to google "free weight exercises"...so you can see illustrations.

You should look into Dynamic tension. It will do it all. When I was young I practiced it every day almost. And people always ask me if I was a weight lifter. And I guarantee you will never hurt yourself with it.
