The only way I know how to lose weight is exercise. All of those stupid diets dont work.So if you put your mind to it ,and its really very easy, only 3times a week for 45min a day. Work out with 3,5,8lb dumbells its great, and it doesnt make you look like a man. It just tones your body.Remember fat cannot live on muscle. Check out Joyce Vedral exercise books. Guarenteed to work. GOOD LUCK

If you're like me then dieting is a chore and difficult to stick with. Find something that you find rewarding. For a lot of people yoga and pilates have been very successful in doing this. I am more of a outdoors person and enjoy doing sports. The trick is to simply eat healthy food which you enjoy (very important) and do exercise regularly (again don't over do it or you will get sick of it and quit).
Also a good thing to remember is that before you start really burning fat you have to do around 45 min sustained (not high intensity) exercise... so doing sprints and lifting weights won't do anything for your weight.

Eat a well-balanced, calorie-restricted diet.
Get 30 minutes of exercise, 3 times a week (minimum... you can start here, then work your way to more times, longer durations, and higher intensities gradually from a firm foundation).
Whatever works for you to get to this point is what you should do. If it is following a strict diet that someone else created, do it. If you count "Points", do it. If you just count calories, do it. There are a lot of diets that work on this principle, so one method should "click" with you.
You need to address the habits that make you gain weight in the first place, and change them into healthy habits that you can stick with for the rest of your life. Good luck!

There is no best way. It differs from person to person. To stay in shape, I think the key is to stay motivated. At that point, you may want to try different routines and programs just to keep it interesting.
