No, buy pedialyte.
Get something with all the nutrients she needs, not just a 'koolaid'..even if it is diet. Buy some pedialyte. It has the electrolytes she needs.

It's much better to use Powerade or Gatorade. Light drinks have the artificial sweeteners that has proven to be harmful to young children.
You could make your own version by adding a pinch of salt to apple juice. Unfortunately sugar is just about everywhere.
If you need to make it fun have the child suck on a frozen water pop. It helps with dehydration and fever.
If you suspect your child is too dehydrated, a trip to the hospital is needed.

NO! I dont recommend that because it has the artifical sweetner in that. Get pedialyte or gatoraide. Or use plain water. If your toddler wont drink anything, use a dropper and every 15mins, quirt some water or above mentioned into the childs mouth. Play a little game with child as if its a treat or something. This will keep your child hydrated. You should take child to the dr. if you feel your child is dehydrated because they can get extremely sick very fast. Good luck.

if he is repeatedly vomiting then you need to replace the salts lost with a solution like dioralyte (availiable from chemists) it will replace all the nutrients lost. As long as his fluid intake is there do not worry so much about food. After he has stopped being sick for several hours and u want to give him something then keep it to natural yoghurt as this will settle the stomach and stop the inflammation caused by other foods. This sickness isnt usually a long term thing so he WILL get over it as u can only be sick so much lol. Hope this helps x

I agree with most of the statements about pedialyte or gatorade...however I hate how much sugar gatorade has in it and we've been using propel when our girls are sick, it's got less sugar and has the nutrients to help prevent dehydration

I"M not sure why Crystal light would really do anything to help with the dehydration - it won't help balance electrolites or anything. I say either use just water or go get some gatorade.

NO! That fake sugar is not good for a 2 year old the way it is. When you need to hydrate, you need real sugar. The nutrients in sugar is what brings you back. Give him real sugar. And never give a child nutrasweet anything. It's not even good for adults and your giving it to a 2 year old. He needs real sugar. If you have nothing else to give him then put real sugar in the crystal light. You can even put it in milk or weak tea. Please don't give a child nutrasweet. Make some popsicles for him out of sweetened juice or something. I hope he feels better.

No sugar substitutes are mild diuretics your would be making the problem worse. A sports drink or watered down fruit juice would be better.

I think that a) some sugar is good to help replace lost calories and electrolytes and b) splenda/nutrasweet is not something I"d want to put in my kid. Why don't you use pedialyte or juice?

yes. It is still mostly water, which is what the child needs to maintain fluid balance, esp if they have a fever, diarhea etc.. Pedialyte works better, but if the choice is nothing or crystal light, its better to get the fluid in.
