That's too early for a baby to lose it's teeth. You should definitely have his or her parents take him to a dentist.

The deciduous teeth are expelled or shed as the permanent teeth start erupting. The growth and eruption of the permanent teeth cause the root absorption of the deciduous teeth so they usually fall off with out a root structure. These teeth need to remain in the dentition for formation of jaw structure and for eating purposes for several years before being shed, and allowing the time needed for the permanent ones that are still forming to erupt. Sometimes children are borne with a few that they loose early and new ones come it to replace them. Or it could be that the child has traumatized the teeth by a fall. Either way this should be checked by a dentist to prevent further complication to the permanent dentition.

Every child at certain ages loses their "baby teeth." Adult teeth are growing and when they are ready to push through the gums, will push the baby teeth out. But at the age of 1 1/2 yrs old, that is too young. He should be seen by a dentist.

When kids get older their baby teeth need to be replaced with bigger, stronger teeth to keep up with the pace of the growing body. The adult tooth releases a chemical to dissolve the root of the baby tooth, causing it to fall out and be replaced with a permanent set.

Every child is different, but losing their baby teeth is predetermined before birth and cannot be changed. If you are really concerned, ask your babies dentist.

God created us that way, otherwise we would grow up with little small teeth that would be mostly useless. Just another miracle of creation.
That's my opinion anyway.
