Has anyone else seen this monstrocity? It's some sort of idolatry where it's members look to an imaginary person named 'Bob'....who has the a-typical father face (smoking a pipe) and such. I stumbled across this junk one night while watching a public access channel (bad mistake on my part). They also believe that aliens will come to our planet and save us someday.....
Thank God for the Holy Spirit....who leads me into the truth about this.

You must mean the Church of the SubGenius. I doubt they actually worship Bob, it is more of a parody thing, like the FSM.

You had better repent to Bob, and hope that he doesn't come back before you do. If not, you will be sent to Elizabeth, NJ where you will spend eternity as a fry cook. Bob is a Bob of love, but he can't stand people questioning his existence. The followers of Bob, know he exists and can prove it. They feel him in their hearts, and nothing you say about reality, science, religion or philosophy will change that.
Bob left many writings and books that have been compiled into Bob inspired holy texts. His followers call it the Boble. There are many miraculous events that are documented by Bob's followers and it is more proof that Bob exists. Bob said it, I believe it, thats the end of it.
I hate all you Bob-damned liers, saying that Bob doesn't really exist. Don't you know that he just wants to save you from New Jersey? If you don't repent soon, his followers will have to organize an inquisition. Then you will change your tune.
On another note has anyone heard the new band Bobsmack, they rock.

i believe in something but i dont know what it is
this means that im an agnostic and therefore god could be bob
but id doubt it. Come on i wouldent even call my kid bob let alone a spiritual being!
a lot of people only believe in "god" because they want to know that there is some world other than this. this means that they havent lived their life in vain onlly not to exist when they die. for the people who believe in him, Bob is probably a link to their childhood as they either didnt have a father or theirs abused or maltreated them. he is the kind and loving dad who will never let them down and will look after them in the next life.

I don't think that the members of the Church of the SubGenius actually worship Bob Dobbs. Rather, it's a mock religion in which people can actually become ordained ministers if they send in money for certification. It's all a joke, really.

I engaged in some lively discussions in the early 90s about the Church of the Subgenius and J. R. "Bob" Dobbs. They were good times.
I argued with zealous Christians who were so deluded in their faiths that they honestly thought that people were stupid enough to believe in the divinity of "Bob" and X-ists. The discussions were made more lively by people claiming to worship "Bob", which sent the Christians into a complete breakdown.
Thank you for reminding me of those days. You prove that there are plenty of people out there who are incapable of separating reality from delusions. Your response says it all.

One does not need the Holy Spirit to recognize this boat load of crap... just common sense. It was probably a prank, joke, or a psychadelic coolaid serving cult. Either way... no need to pray for answers about it.
