Keep the area clean and if a scab forms, don't pick at it. Wash the area twice a day with soap and water and leave it alone. You can put a very small amount of Neosporin on it, but don't over do it.
The piercing should start to heal up in a week or so and if at any time you notice intense pain, an increase in swelling, if the area becomes heated to the touch you should see a doctor. Keep in mind that the area will be tender and a bit sore until it completely heals up, at no point should you reinsert jewelry into the piercing. The trauma already caused to it can make it painful and uncomfortable to wear jewelry.
Let it heal up, get it re-pierced later on (usually 8+ months after it heals to ensure full and proper healing) if you really miss it.

To get the swelling to go down you should apply ice. If it doesn't get better after a few days or if it gets red and feels hot it is probably infected. Then you should see a dr. As far as the hole closing, its hard to say. If you just recently got it pierced it will probably close up. If you have had it for a while it might not close up...you'll just have to keep an eye on it and once the injury is healed you can try to put a new ring in.

Um... put the jewelry back in deer, if you want it to remain open. It will close, as it is a small hole and was pierced the right way *i'm assuming* unlike the standard lobes that remain open forever because they were traumatized so when you allowed the chick at Claires to shoot the blunt stud through your ear *yeah, it's pointed, but compare it to a piercing needle. point made*
Like I said, leave jewelry in, prefferably the longer stud you were pierced with to accomidate the swelling. Take yourself some ibuprofen to help pain and swelling, and maybe take a cool wet cloth to it, also to help swelling. It should be fine if you more or less leave it alone.
EDIT
People are saying "clean it" "neosporin" "disinfectant". Sweety, the piercing's traumatized, not infected. Neosporin and antibacterial soap are bad for piercings eather way. Neosporin glogs it and prevents proper drainage of lymph and antibacterial soap *or peroxide, or alcohol* are indiscriminant of what bacteria they kill, which means they kill both the bad and the stuff that's killing the bad to begin with. Don't touch it, don't twist it. Don't mess with it for the most part aside from cleaning it when it's dirty, not 15 times a day which will do more harm than good.
Go talk to a piercer if you're still unsure.

That happens to me too, but mines is healed. It happened one time when it was newly pierced and I bought a plastic nose ring from Claire's and it kept it open and helped it in healing. Also, use some hydrogen peroxide instead of alcohol, because the alcohol will dry the skin and make it worse. Hope this helps!

do no longer USE ALCOHOL on your nostril, it is going to DRY IT OUT. If some element, use salt water or Polysporin. I maximum useful had mine for a year previous to it gained ripped out, and it gained limitless "bubbles". i don't be conscious of the thank you to make it leave, even though it will no longer be eternal it is not correct what you do. I recommend going lower back on your piercer (which does no longer sound like an overly maintain place), or analyzing an extra epidermis artwork save that looks sanitary and asking them what to do. Salt water is maximum in all probability the respond.

I would reinsert the piercing after cleaning it out with a disinfectant. I would treat it as if you had just gotten it pierced, meaining I'd clean it every day until it's healed.

Apply Hydrogen Peroxide to disinfect, then apply neosporin to keep it clean. After it heals I would not repierce because that area will be prone to tearing again.
