I just love dogs, they are so cute and funny, always glad to see you and never let you down, I'm scared of cats to be honest but to those who love them then I am sure they get great pleasure from owning one.

I have one of each. A beautiful German Sheppard and a 7 week old kitten (whom I was worried our dog would eat because the kitten is only as big as the dogs nose)..But she has taken to the kitten very well. While the dog is jealous she has great love for every member of our family and I feel protected and safe when I'm here alone. The kitten is of course different, she plays ALL the time and gets into everything, a little lazy but very sweet and loving too. Cats are cleaner animals, always gromming themselves as if they are so vain, dogs are better companions and you can take them to the park....

A dog is a pet and can be trained how you want it to be ie guard dog , familly pet , working dog, etc. A cat on the other hand is its own master and will only obey you if it wants to. The upside of it is if your cat is an outdoor cat you can leave it alone for a couple of days if need be, as long as someone feeds and waters it.
It realy depends on your requirements and your housing situation as well as your circumstances as to which you should go for,.

Tough choice! I'd go for the dog, only because of how long they live. Our cat lived for 16 years, and our dog lived for 10. It's a long time to have an animal around!

my cat has become more and more effectionate over time, dogs are always effectionate, cats r easier to look after they do there own things and u can leave them on there own for a bit, cause they go out and play with the other cats. lol

I like both. but i prefer cats. They are more in dependant. If I want to go away for a couple of days I know I don't have to worry about them. They have a cat flap, enough food and water and they usually entertain each other.
Not like my dog who I have to take with me or take to a kennel or a friend.
Another very good thing about cats is that they don't want you to take them for a walk. (Very annoying with my dog in this horrible weather)

Personally I prefer Dogs too. Now here's a question for you - Is this the sort of question you should ask when you're going out with someone? Because I'm sure you can tell what type of person they are by their answer and at least how compatible you'll be.

Gotta be cats - though I do like dogs, they just seem too stupid and dependant, cats are smart cookies - They realise they are superior and treat us as their pets, use us for easy food and a warm bed - Anyone with a cat will know what I mean, it's the cheeky look on their face!

It's up to the owners life style. Dogs need walking, so a stay at home person is better. Cats can do what they like, so suite all day workers. The choice is yours.
