Heck yeah! The scorpion was an awesome plane. It really reminds me of an F-80 Shooting Star. Keep 'em Flying.

well...my father did and from his dealings with them, i rather got the impression that it wasn't as well liked as some of his aircraft.

The F-89 scorpion had a lot of nicknames. one was "FOD vacuum" because its intakes were so low to the ground, it would suck up everything and then some off the runway which could ruin its engines (hence the F.O.D. or foreign object damage designation.) another nickname was the "Stanley steamer" because of the great big tires this aircraft had, and the mountain of smoke that came out the tail during take-off. he also said that sometimes the missile pods would fire off all the missiles in the wing tips, instead of in salvos of ones or twos per side due to a glitch in the fire control system: he said the pilots would report it looked absolutely awesome when it did.

id say it was an ungainly looking beast, but it got the job done, as an air interceptor until they brought the F-102 and F-106 on line.
