That life feeds on death, and death feeds on life. That everything is interconnected, and that the universe runs in cycles.

Animals or carnivorious plants eat animals because that is their mode of survival.
Humans have the faculty to decide if they want to other animals or not. I think vegetarianism shows a higher nature and compassion. Practicing brutality simply because you can shows a lower nature-it's a little bit like the bully on the playground who beats up smaller kids simply because he is bigger. Showing restraint is good for the soul.
But I guess it doesn't always work for everybody--some people say Hitler was a vegetarian. But every rule appears to have exceptions. Some of my best friends eat meat and that doesn't necessarily make absolutely bad. I don't like to be preachy--but the topic was already brought up so I am giving my comments.
Meat eaters can joke if they want. I don't care.

He's showing us it's OK to fire up the grill. I don't know where people get the idea that it's not OK to eat animals. Eating plants also destroys one life so that another may live. Same with bugs and micro organisms. They all have the same right to live and the same right to be eaten. The bible even says plants, animals and fishes will be our food.

Before the flood the air was richer, and so plants and animals could get their nourishment more easily. In the new earth, the lion will eat "straw" like the ox. YHVH is showing us that the world is messed up.

That there is a circle of life, plants feed animals, animals eat plant eaters, animals die and are broken down by microbes which enrich the soil to grow plants. It also means we should be true to our omnivore nature and eat both meat and plants.

God has nothing to do with it. This is how nature evolved, with some animals becoming predators and others becoming prey. If there were any such thing as a perfect, loving deity, he would love animals, too, and would have made them all plant-eaters.

No god involved. It is plain survival at it's finest. The food chain, eat or be eaten. Nothing symbolic, just nature, just survival.

His mighty Creation, Study Revelation, after armegeddon, God will call for the fowls of the air to come & feast at the great supper of our God. And that is NOT the marriage supper.

God is showing us that we are all just energy sources for bigger, more motivated creatures, and that one day he is going to come back and consume all those that he feels are naughty.
The rest he is taking back with him to the big pantry in the sky.
The Bible is a cookbook..........aaaahhhhhhhhhh
