when ever someone quotes from koran, the excuses are the same: bad translation - learn arabic - how convinient.
Every muslim knows infidels aren't going to learn arabic just to read the koran. So in arabic they spread the hate and stuff to muslims, then when it gets translated to english, and people see what is really being taught, the excuse is it's a bad translation.
What a conspiracy.

that's just the way Muslims are. I'm not saying Christians are angels either, but Muslims really love using the "bad translation" excuse, but let me give you real live events to try to understand the mind of the Muslim.

The pope read mid-evil text from a king that called Muhammad Evil, and Islam violent. Muslims decided to defend their dear prophet, by sending death threats to the pope as well as killing a Catholic nun. The Muslims were defending their religion saying it's not violent by being violent. I just don't get it.

this problem will definitely not be resolved on yahoo answers.

you are right in some ways. one question is whether we can lump all muslims into this group. its not fair to the peaceful muslims, but not doing so is not fair to us (it jeopardizes our safety). so who do we please? unfortunately, the answer to your question is YES, some do. the terrorists know what they are doing, and know how to "beat the system." they know how the rest of the world feels about war, and knows that they can pull everyone's strings. look at how much dissention they have caused in america.

the thing about the koran and all other religious texts is that they are open to interpretation. they are all like horoscopes. you can make them fit your situation, and you can make it say whatever you want. what i call the "bad" (although i don't really think they are "evil," that is a discussion for another day) muslims will say and do one thing in the name of Islam. then when we westerners try to blame the religion, the "good" muslims try to argue with us. so its not a question of whether the koran is good or bad, or the religion is good or bad. its the people. they are using the religion to justify their actions.

i better stop ranting now. i should get -10 points for such a long-winded answer.

I would say that is pretty much true.

Although the same can be said about Christianity. Whenever someone brings up verses from the old Testament that refer to death and destruction, Christians are the first to jump on the "doesn't apply today" bandwagon. But in reality, that means that they are picking and choosing law from their holy text. Some will say that Jesus fulfilled the Law, so Christians can live outside the rabbinical law in the old Testament. The problem with that is that then you are relying on your gut for morals. There are very few "laws" in the new Testament. Love your neighbor as yourself is the only one that comes to my mind, and in reality, most Christians don't follow that one.

Beware of wolves in sheep's clothing, out of the middle east comes Satan's army, and we are blind to see it is already at our door steps.

Dude, u give non-muslims a bad name with ur ignorance. Why would u assume they teach hate when u admit u never read it...note the irony. and secondly, im assuming that u belive that cuase of extremist muslims actions...does the fact Hitler was catholic mean the bible teaches hate? try less reading and more thinking.

There are many brands of Islam, just as their are many brands of Christianity and everything out of the one bible. Have you never worried about how the Bible is translated into many different versions?

Good question. They claim that their Qur'an is not altered. I do not know if they really know what it says, it just sounds so beautiful to them.
