I stupidly gave my mobile number to a guy at Piccadilly Circus who claimed to be from the BBC and said I looked "interesting". He said he was arranging a meeting with some people and a producer. Lately he has been calling all the time but the number comes up withheld. I am now positive he is a crook of some kind or worse. Do I just keep ignoring all calls I don't recognise or should I say something to him to get rid of him. Whenever he calls he says he is using his producers phone and I can't call him back. If he really worked for the BBC he would have his own phone surely. What should I do (apart from not be so stupid to give out my number - lesson learned!).

Well, theres always caller Id, and you can block a number, if this keeps up, talk to the cops , and ask of what you should do. I hoped I helped.Or change your phone number.Just tell him, if you keep calling I will get my phone coumpany and they will track you down and turn you into the cops, That will really stop from calling.

Well this has happened to me before, so I know how you feel. First what I did was, when he called me again, I let him know in a stern way, not rude or anything though, that I didn't appreciate the way he kept disrespecting me by calling me all the time. Then, when he didn't listen to that, I started ignoring all the calls that I couldn't recognize. Of course everybody that calls me knows that I always pick up the phone and if I don't, I tell them to leave a message. So if it wasn't him, they always left a message. That's when he started to get the picture. But I mean of course if that doesn't work for you, you can always get your number changed. Good luck with your problem, and I hope it works out for you.

Something you can do which will definitely get this bloke off your case, is to request a change of mobile number. Depending on the network you are with, there may or may not be a charge for this, but for reference O2 allow one change at no cost.

Of course this is not the most ideal solution as it will be a time-consuming process handing out your new number to your contacts, but if this bloke is being really persistent and making times unpleasant for you, it's a viable option.

Phone your mobile company, the can probably block his calls,or, say "Hey, wait a minute, there's someone at the door" then leave the phone, He'll soon get fed up! A lesson to be learned, Don't give strangers your Mobile number!

Next time he calls tell him you are not interested and that you dont belive his story and ask him to stop calling. If this fails pop down the local police station and report the loon!!! You have a right to not be hasseled and harrased by anyone.

Good Luck

It is better for you to change your mobile number. That guy appears to be a real crook. I know you will have to take the botheration of telling all your known people your new number.
You have weigh the option.

I would just tell him next time he calls that you have changed your mind and are really not interested in anything he has to offer and that you would appreciate it if he stopped calling. If he calls again, tell him you are contacting your network and will take the matter further. Hopefully the first one will be enough.

everytime he calls jus say hold on, then go quiet dont say anything and dont cut the phone, i am sure his phone bills will put a stop to that. Or jus give someone to answer and tell them the owner of this phone died a few days ago.

Tell him that you find his story strange,so you've contacted the phone company and logging times he called etc. so that they can be investigated by the police. That'll scare him off!

Just tell him that you have reported his calls to your network provider and they are in the process of tracing the number!

Any more calls and you will take it further!
