I use to promise myself that I would never say, "Because I said so." I now find myself saying it all the time to my 7-year-old. The funny thing is, my 13-year-old said just last night, "Now I understand why you say that."

Sometimes I open my mouth and my Mother's voice comes out.

Sometimes I look in the mirror and her eyes smile back to me.

What is really scary is that I finally see how often she was right on the money :-)

One year for Mother's Day I gave her a card that on the front said,
"I am sending you those three little words every Mom longs to hear"

On the inside it said:

"YOU WERE RIGHT"

Turning into our Moms isn't bad at all if you had a great Mom like I did :-)

Blessings,
Mom of 5 with another on the way

It's funny because as a kid you always said when I have kids I'm not gonna sound like my parents. However, on more than one occasion I've been told by several of my parents friends and even other family members that not only do I say and at the same way as my mom, I sound exactly like her when I do!

It was really funny when my dad would call the house when I was visiting them and started talking to me like I was my mom! LOL!

Oh my God.

Sometimes I sort of joke to myself about how my dad talks. He does this weird sort of whiny, whimpering dog thing when he wants to get an opinion across.

I never do that and neither does my sister.

Then one day, recently, I'm talking to someone, and out it pops. So strange. The very thing I joke about came out of my own mouth. All I could think about is that something's going horribly wrong here, and I better watch out.

I have a friend whose parents I haven't met. I'm really interested to hear her mother though because the way this girl talks is so stylized. I don't think it just popped out of nowhere. I want to hear her mother to see if she does it too. Also, the way she talks, it sort of prevents other people from talking, so part of me believes that her mother doesn't speak that way at all because nobody would get a word in.

Do you know why you sound like your parents? Because you sound like a parent. No matter how hard you might try to do things differently, ALL parents got through the same troubles, and deal with them in similar ways.

As I get older I sound and LOOK more like my parents
I say that I am the "best AND worst " of their combined personalities

Now that one of my parents is Gone, I dont seem to cringe that I am acting like him
he was well respected by his friends, peers, colleagues

I hope I am someday as respected as he was

so lighten up and smile that your parents quirks, personality have rubbed off onto you

At times I find myself realizing the same feeling. It is a little scary. We are a part of our parents and there is no getting away from it.

I wont know that until my son is born next week i hope. but i would guess we all sound like are parents to are own children because we were brought up with them telling us what to do.

Yes, this is a natural phenomena. When you are the adults, you naturally say and do what you have been exposed to as a child.
