Doesn't that imply that God is a woman? What man in his right mind would invent marriage?

Except to ensure that his property was not coveted by another man.

But then he'd need to invent a God to sanctify his marriage and enforce the rule and that opens a whole other bag of worms..... So let's just stick with the first part of the question.

hmm what man in his right mind would invent marriage?

How about an insecure beta male with a purity complex and a fear of losing his little slice of control over SOMETHING?

To say that God invented marriage is oversimplfying things. What a marriage is is a journey between a man and a woman that is blessed by God at its inception, and strives to follow the ideals that God sets forth. So, by that line of thinking, yes, God invented marriage, but it's up to the married couple to keep it a marriage.

In many ancient societies marriage was a CONTRACT, for example:
1. contract signed between the family of the girl and the family of the boy,or
2. a contract between a man and the father of the bride for a stipulated time granting the man a sole use of the woman's body in exchange for the servitude ( or other consideration) for the father or the family.
Contracts are made by people, God may be asked to sanctify marriage contracts but God does not sign them.
I hope it answers your question and I'm sure you'd enjoy a marriage contract for a short period of time, not till death do you apart; such marriages exist today in many cultures.

No, it doesn't mean that God is a woman.
Did God invent marriage? God created man and woman and nature that puts its own seal of approval on the union of man and woman, by the conception of a child.
What man in his right mind would invent marriage? A man who has found the right woman, I suppose.

Again you fail to see, God is not a person as you called him a man. God is a spirit, & yes Mariage is mentioned in the bible, Only between a man & woman. Eve was Adam's wife, Now why do you think this opens another bag of worms, If someone knows what they are talking about, It will not be a can of worms.

God created man, and then invented women because man was unhappy alone. Man invented marriage, and then God invented divorce- modeling it after a tornado (lots of sucking and blowing at first, but the end result is that man loses his house).

God instituted marriage from Gen 2:24. God is Spirit. There is neither male or female in the spirit.

Marriage was originally invented to insure a woman’s offspring were yours. It was invented by men and often used to pacify women.

God is both man/woman. Everything in the universe has it's "other". It never mentioned int he bible that Adam and Eve were married. I think marriage is a legal symbol that two people are committed to one another. It says in the bible however that God recognizes the laws of the land.

God created and ordained marriage. He is a faithful being, therefore He was/is/will always be in His right mind.
