In the movie Executive Decision, a group of commandos, led by Kurt Russell and Steve Seagal, boarded a 747 from under the carriage in mid flight.

In reality, can this be done? Can an airplane like the 747 be boarded in mid air this way? Or does this happen only in the movies?

Usually, aircraft wheel bays are sealed to prevent havoc and buffeting inside the structure when the gear is down. I am not familiar with a 747, but I would assume these bays are sealed. That's not to say that they could be cut to gain access.

Once in the hold, access is available to the gallies via dumbwaiter, if I am not mistaken.
