Recurring Dreams
Most dreams contain messages that serve to teach us something about ourselves. Unfortunately many a times we forget what we dream about as we go about our daily routine. With recurring dreams, the message may be so important and/or powerful that it just will not go away. The frequent repetition of such dreams forces you to pay attention and confront the dream. The dream is trying desperately to tell you something. Such dreams are often nightmarish or frightening in their content, which also helps you to take notice and pay attention to them.
Recurring dreams are quite common and are often triggered by a certain life situation or a problem that keeps coming back again and again. These dreams may recur daily, once a week, or once a month, but whatever the frequency, there is little variation in the dream content itself. It usually points to a personal weakness, fear, or your inability to cope with something in your life - past or present.
The repetitive patterns in your dream can reveal some of the most valuable information on yourself. It may point to a conflict, situation or matter in your waking life that remains unresolved or unsettled. Or some urgent underlying message in your unconscious is demanding to be understood.
Following are some tips in overcoming your recurring dreams.
1. In understanding your recurring dream, you must be willing to accept some sort of change or undergo a transformation.
2. You must be willing to look within yourself and confront whatever you may find no matter how difficult it my be.
3. You must be able to look at the dream from an objective point of view. Try to get pass the emotional and reactive elements of the dream and get down to the symbolic images. Many times dreams are masked by elements that are disturbing preventing you to delve any deeper. This is a defense mechanism that your unconscious may be putting up.
4. Be patient. Do not get discourage if these dreams still recur even after you thought you have come to understand them.
5. Learn to accept yourself truly and fully.
Often times, once you discover what your recurring dream is trying to tell you, these dreams will change or altogether disappear.
Nightmares
We all have had nightmares at various parts in our lives. They are quite normal. But what is exactly a nightmare and why do we have them?
Nightmares are a subcategory of dreams. The distinction of a nightmare is its frightening and/or emotional content. You tend to wake up in fear in the midst of a nightmare. Because of its frightening nature, you tend to remember your nightmares and the vivid details. They have a bigger impact upon your waking mind and its images stay with you throughout the day. One reason for nightmares may be a way of our unconscious to get our attention about a situation or problem that you have been avoiding. It is time to take notice and confront a problem or situation. Nightmares serve an important purpose in showing you what is troubling you from within you deeper levels. Discussing, analyzing, and understanding your nightmares can lead to a solution for some problem, internal conflict or personal difficulty.
Dream Symbolism
Ants: To see ants in your dream, signifies your general dissatisfaction in your daily life. You are feeling neglected and insignificant. Petty things will annoy you throughout the following day. You will learn that cooperation will be the only way to achieve your desires.
Ants also symbolize hard work, diligence and industry. Increase business activities are expected. On a less positive note, ants symbolize social conformity and mass action. In this regard, you may feel that your life is too structured and orderly.
According to the biblical interpretations, ants symbolize diligence concerning the things of God. Despite its small size, the ant lays up substance during times of plenty. (Prov 30:25)
Peanuts: To see peanuts in your dream, symbolize the need to get to the truth or core of something. You may also need to start pushing yourself and utilizing your full potential, Consider the peanuts in your dream to be a pun for money and what little you have of it. It may represent your financial difficulties.
Skin: To dream of your skin, represents protection or shield of your inner self. It serves as a physical boundary and how close you let others get to you. Alternatively, it may indicate that you are being to superficial or shallow.
To dream that your skin is covered with rashes or other skin deformity, signifies your fear in facing a harsh reality. This may also be a pun to indicate that you are making a rash decision.

Usually people say that dreams have a meaning to them or like some kinda subtle resemblance to the past. I don't know what it means or what they stand for since i am no expert in dream analysis. Its mostly subjective in personal sense and more direct in scientific sense.
Maybe you could track your habits everyday and see where the answer might lie. Maybe a fear of ants or something that you hate or greatly disgusted about might be yielding to these dreams. Usually a lot of dreams (speaking form personal experience) stem from personal fears and things that we hate/dislike.
Hope that helps you a little bit in understanding.

It's a dream, it doesn't mean anything. Just because it was a dream doesn't mean its going to happen and your going to become a homeless single mother with a child and a father of the child who ditched her to go sell more drugs. Hahaha what a life that would be. So your wondering about your dreams. Plain and simple, it's a dream! Is it real? Nope. Are you pregnant? Nope. So what are you worrying about. It's okay to have dreams like that, don't be freaked out. Hope that helps =]

The only people I've heard of having dreams like this are people who suffer from Dermatillomania (More information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dermatillomania). There is advice and support at http://www.stoppickingonme.com/ There is an online programme at http://www.stoppicking.com/PsycTech/Program/StopPicking/Public/EducationCenter.aspx?EducationArticleID=1 however, it isn't free.
Dermatilliomania is also known as Self-injurious skin picking (SISP) or Chronic Skin Picking (CSP). Some proffesionals see it as a Obsessive compulsive disorder linked to Trichotillomania (Hair pulling - see http://www.trich.co.uk/) and some see it as a form of self-injury.
If you think that your dreams may be related to this condtion and want to talk to someone, feel free to get in touch.

I don't mean this in a rude way, but are you on any medication? I used to take amitriptyline and it caused me to have the strangest, most violent dreams. Also, there are some foods I can't eat before going to bed because they'll result in some odd dreams. Popcorn is the main culprit for me.
Don't eat anything 3 hours before you go to bed, see if that helps. And if you are taking medication, talk to your doctor, maybe you can switch to something else.

Thinking about it while you are awake and talking about it will likely make it stop. Don't worry, there is nothing wrong with you and everybody has weird, disgusting, scary dreams once in a while. Now that you are analyzing it, if you have that dream again you may very well know you are dreaming and can wake yourself up. Good luck.

To me, bad dreams mean I am having a low blood sugar episode during the night (about 2:00 am - ish usually). I learned when I was hypoglycemic (now diabetic) to eat a balanced snack before bedtime.
Check out www.hufa.org for more info on low blood sugar and the symptoms that can result.

When I have bad dreams, I've trained myself to keep my conscious mind from accepting the dream as a reality and repeat to myself "this is only a dream" and wake myself up from them. This technique requires a couple times of practice, but you should be able to get the hang of it.... I also recommend visualizing something soothing while you fall asleep.

Actually this kind of imagery was considered dreamlike by the surrealists. Painters like Dali and filmmakers like Luis Bunuel had such imagery in their works. It is not weird at all for dreams ro have this kind of image.

It sounds as if something is troubling you. You may have something you want to say to someone or something you want to do that is bubbling up inside of you and wants to come out. Perhaps there is someone in your life that you want to yell at or let them know your perhaps not so nice feelings for them. But you are holding back for some reason. You need to vent and let whatever it is inside of you..out. I hope this helped, if not...
