Having been in a very similar situation, I have to tell you that, altough many might disagree with me, if he's not a man that is interested in being a parent to your child, don't even bither telling him about it.
I was of the mind that my child's sperm donor had a right to know about his progeny walking the earth; I was convinced that it would have been awful and immoral and just wrong not to tell him that I was having his baby. I felt that his son had a right to know his father, and that I had an obligation to facilitate a relationship between the two. I truly felt that every child needs a father, regardless of te status of the two parents' realtionship.
Boy, was I wrong.
My son, now 7, has had his heart broken countless times by the worthless louse. My husband and I spend a great deal of time, effort, and energy trying to get and keep the "fther" interested and involved in this beautiful, amazing boy's life - to no avail. The "relationship" I felt obligated to help cultivate has consisted of nothing but broken promises and lies, and every time my son asks me why his daddy won't see him or why his daddy's so busy or why his daddy didn't call...all I can think about is how absolutely idiotic my reasoning for even telling hm about this child was...
Trust me when Itell you that NO FATHER IS A HECK OF A LOT BETTER TO AN APATHETIC, SELF-ABSORBED, UNCARING FATHER.
You are better off surrounding yourself and your child with people who love and care about the both of you. You owe him nothing.

Yes. You need to tell him. If he leaves you and that baby are better off without him, if he tells you to get an abortion, then that is a personal choice you have to make on your own, but it sounds like you want this baby. So tell him, it takes two to tango, so when he was busting a nut, he should have remembered that there could have been consequences to his actions. He is responsible for child support, and if he wants to be a father then fine, if not, you and your child will be just fine with out him. You need to tell him, give him the opportunity to be supportive and involved. If he choses a different path--make sure he at least contributes to the child in the legal sense. Good Luck!!!

I think that he deserves a right to know that he has a child. Let him decide what he wants to do about his child. At least you could get child support.
He made the baby and he needs to take some sort of responsibility.

Well it was right not to tell him while you were pregnant so that you didn't have to go through the bull**** ,but I think your saying you had the baby and I think it would be good to let him know now . Not to say anything might happen (health wise ) I think it would be best to tell him . Just understand if something was to happen to you or the baby you may need him to step up . You can choose to let him in your life , just as long as he knows and that baby knows daddy does exist . GOOD LUCK !!!!!

NO ONE CAN MAKE YOU "loose" your baby. Only you can make that decision! You need to tell him, so you can get some CS from him, even if he doesn't want the child, he has a responsibilty too for this child.

A child needs both the mother and father. People need the opportunity to be a parent or not.

I think you're not very good at making decisions. It's sad that you felt he was "worth" having sex with, but he isn't "worth" being a father. He deserves to know. He is the father.
