Yes, they can get dandruff. They have special doggie dandruff shampoo (In the Grooming isle at the Petstore).
Make sure you don't wash the dog too much (Once a month or so) or it will dry out it's skin.

Yes dogs can get dandruff. However the medicated soaps you can buy at the pet stores arent worth the price tag. Just go out and buy some head and shoulders. Worked better for me and my dog than the pricy soaps from the pet store. Good Luck.

On top of using medicated shampoos, there are also dietary supplements which reduce dandruff. We no longer have the problem, but when one of ours was a pup he had dandruff, and the vet gave us what if i recall correctly was fish oil to dab on top of his food once a day. Not only did it get rid of the dandruff, but it also gave him a very beatiful shiny coat.

Yes they can. Many breeds are actually prone to having dry skin and dandruff.

Yes, and certain breeds are more inclined than others to have it. I asked a vet before getting a dog which breed didn't have inborn problems. I was not surprised to discover which breeds have trouble with hair growing in their eyes and ears -- you can probably guess too -- but Scotties were a breed he said had bad skin -- flaking and itching. I hated to hear that because I love Scotties and was thinking of getting one! But he said a beagle was kind of "maintenance free"

They can get flaky skin, especially during the winter, when we have the heat on. You can get a dietary suppliment called Linotone that puts oil back in their skin and fur and will stop the flaking. Also cuts down on dander (causing allergies!).

You may want to run it past your vet. Yes, they can get flaky coats, but I think it's actually worse (i.e., more painful) for them, so make sure you use something that will properly soothe their skin.
