Is creating a world of people to worship you like self-stimulation?

yes it would be....
but i really dont think god cares if we worship him/her/it.

i think as long as we are all good to one another, i dont think god gives a rat's as$ if we worship or even acknowledge him/her/it.

To me worshiping God is a joy. He knows me. He knows that I want t be connected with Him. When I love some one and one loves me back, it is a wonderful thing. Mutual love. God loves us, He just wants it back in return like us. We have a choice though. That is also nice.
