If her teeth and gums are healthy
then
Take her to the Doctor .

These are the most likely things,
that can cause bad breath,
in a child of this age
are ;
~~~~~
an infected or blocked nasal passage (s)
an ear infection ( infected eustation canal)
a sore throat ( tonsils and adenoid inflammation )
possible tummy problems
.The Doctor ,
will advise you, on the cause of the problem
and treat her .
So go and make an appointment ASAP..
I hope your little girls breath, will smell sweet again, very soon
Little kids have bad breath if they drink a lot of milk. Think about it, old or sour milk smells bad. If they have juice, which most toddlers do, that also turns to an alcohol based sugar which doesn't smell great. I don't think it's a problem. If it's really severe you might ask her pediatrician what it could be, in case it is a stomach or digestive issue. My guess is that she's drinking milk and juice and it's sitting in her mouth for a long time in between her twice daily brushings.
It depends on the smell.. does it smell like garlic? or fruity?
If it smells garlicky.. then it can indicate a respiratory problem. Fruity smells indicate a problem with glucose.
Also, what is she eating during the day? Myabe something she's eating could be the culprit.
Good Luck and I hope this helps.
Sometimes young children put things in their nose. Since no one thinks to look in their nose the item sits in their nose and rots. Since the child will breath through its nose the rotten food item will cause them to have bad breath. Next time at the doctor's office, have the doctor look in your child's nose and see if some food is logged in side. If the food got pushed back fare enough it could be in the sinuous and that could lead to infection, so have a doctor look.
Change what you feed her for meals. She probably needs to drink more water too.
Perhaps she sould use mouth wash. (Crest has one with out alcohol so it doesn't burn)
Brush her tongue with tootpaste and water.
Drink plenty of water. (her urine should be light yellow to clear) Eat more fruits and veggies.
