Well, the cheapest flight I found from Newark, NJ to Miami, FL IS a non-stop at $92 one way, American Airlines 1163 on Tuesday.
The only way a trip could take 11 hours would be to be hub and spoke to Midway in Chicago, making a bad connection to another hub with more waiting time.
It would have helped if you had specified cities.

because you stop in other places. such as lets say you have to fly from jfk to chcago and then you have to switch flights which lets say takes an hour so right there you are at three hour of flight time then you fly to atlanta which takes two hours so now you are on five hours well you flight get inot atlanta at tweleve at night and the next flight dosnt leave for another 5 hours so then you have a wait time of 5 hours so now the time it is take ing you to travel is ten hours so no it is five in the mourinig and you get on the plane aand you get into florida an hour later there you go that takes 11 hours to get to florida . what you have to ask is does the benefite of a cheaper flight and waiting the time outway the benefit of paying more but getting to florida uicker and with less hassle
? so that is how it would take 11 hours to get to florida.

Well, you say "It will cost about the same to get there if we drive or fly." And then you ask "Would it be cheaper for the whole trip if we fly or if we drive there?" Well gee, you said it would be about the same. But let's think here. Will you need a car there? If so, that's a big addition on the cost of flying.
