No. Your child is sleeping because it is growing at such a fast pace and it makes him tired. My daughter took 2 naps a day until she almost 3. And we had to break her of the naps the summer before kindergarten. Even with all the naps she still slept a minimum of 10 hours at night. Children often know what their bodies need, better than us parents.

If this is her naturally wanting/needing to sleep that long then no. Childrens natural need for nap times and lenths change with age, if they are going through a growth spurt, fighting an infection, dealing with stress, are emotionally tired (this can be from being really happy about something too!), diet factors and many other things. Your child is no doubt fine. As for night times, that goes through many stages too, many of them the "testing parents" stage! My 5yo will not go to sleep at night & so is dead to the world in the morning. Getting better though!

Yes. The more they sleep during the day, the less they sleep at night. If you see a problem with her night sleeping pattern, you might want to cut back on nap time during the day.

my 16 month old i only allow a maximum of an hr nap in midday and no l8r as he wont sleep at night otherwises. It sounds cruel but you have to wake them up so they stick to a routine. When they first wake up they are usually upset and clingy but show toys and entertain and before you know it they are lively again and ready to carry on with the day
