The best place to buy your first bike is a local bike shop. They will make sure it is fitted and adjusted properly. If you read the number of numb body part questions on this forum you would understand what I mean. Do it right first time and you won't have a garage ornament

If your insistent on buying cheap do your research first google and yahoo. Stay with a new bike unless you know what to look for. (used is a very mixed bag even the same model).

basically, no matter where you are, bicycles are relatively priced the same, but you may pay more because of shipping charges...

not sure where to go in your area, but you can start by pricing bikes on line (performance, Nashbar, etc.)., but make sure you go to a local bike shop to get fitted, otherwise you may end up purchasing the wrong size bike and will end up with problems. good luck and wear your helmet!
