I'm not sure, but i think jujutsu (that's the really proper way to spell it, by the way) is a pretty good way to learn self defense. Good luck.

I agree with Ray, the art you are taking (I took it too) is mostly a striking art (some holds, some traps, etc.) so Ju Jitsu will compliment it great. I do not believe you will get confused at all with studying the styles. If you have learned the philosophy of Kenpo you can apply it to grappling too. There are schools that do combine them or combine it with BJJ. I really would recommend BJJ but that is just me. Check the school make sure it is what you want. Best of luck.

Wofford1257 is incorrect, martial arts is not a ''sissy sport'' but lets not bother with the ignorance of others right now. As for your problem, I warn you that you should not take 2 styles at once. I took Shaolin Kempo and then wanted to take Shaolin Kung Fu. Taking both I mixed up all the moves and basically had to start over in Shaolin Kung Fu, which I chose over my Shaolin Kempo.
I feel that if you want to excell in Martial Arts, right now pick either Ju Jitsu (which there are many ways to spell it, your not incorrect) or American Kempo. The choice is yours and if you want more out of a style discuss this with your master,(whatever he is called, in Shaolin Kung Fu, our teacher is called Sifu) and let him know how you feel. Also, do some research and find out about all of the Martial Arts schools in your area, you may want to pick an entirely different one. But, once you have chosen stick with that one style.

Its a very good choice. It will compliment your american kenpo training well.

learn a real sport take up boxing. dont do none of that sissy kicking stuff. in a no holds barred street fight it would only take one missed kick and someone could take you out fast. stand up on youre feet and go toe to toe.
