why can't religions just live with each other in peace?? why do they always have to criticize and try to bring each other down in some way? isn't that against most religions anyway? in most religions you are supposed to show tolerance and respect to all people even if they treat you horribly? why can't people just accept that they probably never will be only one religion??

But one day there will be only one religion:
Phill 2:9-11
9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father

Tribble Macher's thinking is a prime example of why religion will continue to be a source of tension and conflict. I don't believe there will ever be one religion, humans aren't like that. It is part of some humans' nature though to try to make everyone like themselves. Not all religious people are like this however. Some religious people exploit this tendency for power and others out of zealotry but still others are content to coexist peacefully with other religions/no religion without trying to advance their belief system on others. It is also true that if it weren't for religion they would probably find some other mechanism of oppressing others but religion does give them what they feel is air tight justification.
Check out Jed and Readkoran below as well. Do anyone really think either of these people will embrace the other's religion and give up their own? I don't think either of them is right and would fight to preserve my right to live my own beliefs if someone tried to coerce me to follow their beliefs. Tolerance is the only way. If there is a God out there who wants everyone to believe the same thing they should be more than capable of achieving it on their own without humans resulting to violence, evangelizing, or other forms of social coercion.

Alot of religions teach not to show tolerance, not to respect other religions.
The muslims are taught to kill anyone that doesn't believe as they do.
Presently in Burma, the government is killing and raping and driving out Christians because they want a pure buddhist state.
China kills and persecutes Christians.
We are the targets. They do not compromise on their beliefs, yet we are expected to?
You probably won't believe this but the fact is, there is only one God. So obviously there is only one way, the way He has made.
If you examine the different religions, you would definitely find that Christianity, which is part of Judaism, is the correct faith.
And yes, there are proofs of this. For whatever reason, most of the theologians have all got their heads put someplace and they aren't teaching these things.
And believe me, you don't want a one world religion. When you see that happen, then you KNOW you are in trouble. Satan will be in charge of it.

If you remember the story in the Bbile, before the earth language was comfounded, there is only one God and one language the people of the word worship and use. but because of their evil hearts God divided them asunder. So much so that they could not understand each others.
Religion divided the people, and the people uses religion to bring chaos into the world through conquering other nations to bring them into oneness in religion not with God.

Many religious people are tolerant, but others aren't, and such irrational hatred isn't confined to religious beliefs.
Considering the past and present, some humans are simply violent and hateful creatures, especially if they feel threatened or are scared by what they don't understand. I've seen dogs act the same way, it's instinct.

On a personal scale, I am never hostile towards anyone because of their religion. I support freedom of religion even though that means people are free to insult my belief.
On a global scale, when two religions contridict each other, such as Jews and Muslim, it brings natural conflict.

Hi ,thank you for the great question, first of all I think humanity is coming out ,from the age of babyhood (age of limited knowledge about whole thing) and has lack of knowledge about the truth of all these great religions of God,thats why still some deny each others's truth, even though the truth of all of them are one to bring guidence safety and security.
Now for the first time world is looking for maturity in physic and understanding ,there are a lot to learn about our past history of religions and the relatioships between them, but the true universal peace shall come to mind and heart of people by collectively come to the new Teacher of God for explanation of of the process God has planned from beginning.
True, foundation of all religions of God are one, is to know God and worship God and love one another, this time universal.
All the best wishes for whole mankind,
Australia

First of all not all religions promote all kinds of peace.
Some religions say they are the only true religion...hence the followers discrediting others in their religions...
if you tolerate and accept all religions and ways of life you are tolerating and accepting all kinds of things that are definitely not peaceful...it's true!
That's why I think that some religions are whack and religious-driven violence will always be around.....sad but true
Christ is the answer...

the problem is that religions breed hate and intolerance. the most commited religious people can never really accept those who are different from them or who worship other gods. many people that are religious but are not that commited often do care about others and focus of the 'be good to thy neighbour' bits of their religion. however, it is the fundmentalists (all religions have them) that seem to forget this bit and consider all 'others' to be bad. in a nutshell, most religions see themselves as the one true religion, therefore all others must be inferior and their followers i suppose are all going to hell. i'll see you there!

I think what you described is whats called Polemics. I think people of certain religious affiliations feel the need to debate the merits of their religion so that they can distinguish themselves from other religions. As to avoid a Universalism which has made its away into modern Christianity.
