Have tried/read it several ways. The best comfort food in the world. What works best for you?

4 slices of toast
4 pats of butter
1 tsp cinnamon and sugar
1/2 cup milk

Heat milk on low. Butter toast as you usually would and sprinkle each piece with cinnamon and sugar. Tear the toast into bite-sized pieces and place in two cereal bowls. Pour hot milk over toast pieces.

I've tried this one, it's always worked...

Milk Toast

-4 toast slices
-1 egg yolk
-1/2( maybe a bit more) cup of milk
-sugar, vanilla and cinnamon
-1 tbs butter
bit milk and the egg yolk, add 1teaspoon sugar and vanilla. Heat a pan and putter in. Dip the bread slices in the milk mix both sides and then fry them for 2 Min's or so to get that golden brown color. Sprinkle some sugar mixed with the cinnamon and Bon-apetit!

Butter, full cream milk, egg, sugar and stale bread.

Mix milk, egg and sugar, soak the bread until really soft. Melt butter then fry each slice till golden brown. Can serve with kaya (a Malaysian jam made of coconut milk, egg and sugar) or, just eat it plain, or, like the Hong Kongaise would have it, peanut butter sandwiched before the soaking and frying and served with golden syrup and more butter.
