I got mine in ten years, i could have had it at 5 but i did not feel i was ready. the belt means nothing, its what you know and how you apply it. i knew plenty of people who were black belts and brown belts at that time who i felt should not have been wearing those belts and i did not want to be looked down upon by others for that too. so dont worry about getting a belt, just learn. a belt just keeps your pants up while you throw someone.

If it is really only 3 years to get a blackbelt that is sad. Black belts shouldn't come sooner than 10 years of training, as in my Shaolin Kung Fu.

Also, it is very true that the belt means nothing, it is what it symolizes. If you just want a belt, online you can buy a uniform and a belt for like 35 dollars
