If you look in the scriptures, you will find that homosexuality has five mentions in the scriptures (3 Old Testament, 2 New Testament). Compared to some other sins, that is a small number. But it is also one that in the Old Testament carried the death penalty.
When you get into "classifying" sins, you hit a slight problem. In the scriptures, ANY sin is classed by God as causing "death" for the sinner. There are not "big" sins and "little" sins listed in the scriptures. Sin is sin is sin. You are just as much a "sinner" if you tell a little lie as you are if you murder someone. And I have seen cases were a "little lie" has caused as much destruction in people's lives as a murder would - families that do not speak to each other, friendships destroyed, businesses ruined. So there are no "big sin" and "little sins".
At the time, because of efforts to legalize homosexuality and same-sex marriages, homosexuality has been pushed into the limelight and treated as if it is the ONLY sin or issue in the world today. And as long as the homosexual community continues its efforts to force their morality on everyone else, the Chrisitans will have little choice but to stand against those laws.

It's not down to thought. In the old testament, sins are listed in order of severity. If you believe that sort of thing, which I don't. If you are going to try to ask a good question, at least be so good as to know what you are talking about.
But even so, the OT laws were overridden by the New Testament laws. The one which applies in this case is 'love your neighbour'. There's nothing in the new law which prohibits homosexuality.
Think about it... When the earth was underpopulated, homosexuality was a bad thing because it did not end in procreation. But in the New Testament era, the earth was adequately populated, and so homosexuality was no longer needed in the laws.
For the record, I am straight. I was a christian for 15 years. I couldn't care less if someone is homosexual, but I do care that people are throwing up spurious rubbish without a clue what they are talking about and without anything resembling thought or analysis. Remember that the bible directs you to question what is in it's pages.

Well, I guess sins have different levels, but to be honest, a sin is a sin and they are all against God, but God will forgive you if you are sincerely sorry. "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23. Also, you should read Romans 6:23, Romans 5:8, Romans 10:9-10, and Romans 1. You don't have to, but these basically explain how everyone sins against God, but he will forgive us if we try to live for him. Romans 7 is also great, really if you like to read, read the whole book of Romans, it's great for what you're asking. Homosexuality is a sin (Romans 1 talks specifically about that), but it's up to you as to wether or not you want to change. I hope you take what I've said to heart. Thanks for reading.

All sins are equal with the same penalty - eternal death. But because we can ask Jesus for forgiveness we don't have to go through with that. Every sin is the same, from stealing a penny to murder. It's all evil in God's eyes. So everyone needs to repent all the time. But when God forgives us, we have a clean slate again. No need to worry until we sin again.

Neither John or Paul write to give us a list of which sins are worse then the other. That hierarchy is given by sinners to sinners, so that the former can feel more righteous by looking down on others, instead of more loving and humble by looking up to their Savior. If the world is going to hell, a Christian has no one to blame but himself. For the Christian, the words and life of Jesus should be the final authority. Matthew 18:15-17 reads, "If your brother offends you, go and show him his fault, just between the 2 of you. (not in front of everyone, condescendingly condemning) If he listens you have gained a brother. But if he won't listen, take 1-2 others along, so that every matter may be established by the testimony of 2-3 witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell the church, and if he still refuses to listen to the church, treat him as a heathen and a publican." Many Christians have taken that last phrase to mean that we condemn them to hell, and ostracize them. How is that like the life of Jesus? The Gospels are full of Jesus treating the heathen and the publicans with respect, and loving them to the degradation of His own reputation. That is what we as Christians are supposed to do. We are supposed to be loving to the unlovable, patient with the irritating, teaching the unteachable, so that God may save the “unsaveable.” Just like He has saved us. But I guess it is much easier for people to sit back in homes in the suburbs, worrying more about portfolios, next promotion, new car and house, legislate morality instead of live it, and condemn people who don't meet “their” standards, instead of doing what we claim Jesus did for us.

Not a sin at all. If God designed man, and God is perfect, then a man being naturally attracted to another man is God's work.
I trust biology and natural instinct over a few phrases in a text that has been translated and changed many times by man for the past two thousand years.

i cannot believe that anyone has actually asked this question. of course it is not a sin. anyone who thinks it is is just a bigot. i have a question:Is being left-handed the worst sin? (i am right-handed by the way, its just that those left-handers really scare me and i don't think left-handed people are mentioned in the bible)

I dont think it's a sin at all, to me it's not normal but to each his own. People just need to stop trying to make other people understand why they are the way they are.
