I would suggest getting a humidifier/vaporizer and adding some essential oils to the water (some vaporizers even have a spot to put the oil on the outside - it works better that way I think). Try peppermint, eucalyptus, and/or lavender oils. Run it at night in your bedroom while you sleep. It's not medicine, but it should help your symptoms -- allow you to breath, relax better. Peppermint and eucalyptus will help congestion and lavender will help you relax, and helps with headache pain.
There's also a good saline nasal spray called Ocean that you can get nearly anywhere - it should help with the congestion as well, and is just saline, so it's safe for baby.
Good luck!

Me too! I was coughing so much I was vomiting and ended up at the maternity unit. Turns out I have a chest infection and was prescribed a mild antibiotic. They also gave me Difflam Spray to ease my throat - it has really worked along with a few days in bed! Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medication, as I found lots were not suitable to take during pregnancy!
Good luck with your baby and hope your feeling better soon!

I had that same problem and most cold/flu medicines (that work) are not advisable for that stage of pregnancy. It was awful! I couldn't breathe or sleep! I just suffered and complained lots. What I should have done (duh) is what you should do. Normally a cold isn't something you need a doctor for but they may be able to give you something to give relief and that will be safe for both of you. A pregnant woman (again, duh, it would be!) is entitled to as much sound medical advice as possible, about anything! Also drink LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER, hot water is better. I know it's lame advice but it really helps. Hope you feel better soon and congratulations!!!

Benadryl is safe during pregnancy. It will make you a little drowsy so you can sleep. I was miserable with allergies during all of my pregnancies and they always let me have my Benadryl, thank goodness.
Try it, it's really okay. Old, safe, over the counter medicine, my parents are m.d.'s and wouldn't have let me take it if it would have harm their precious grandbabies! My OB/gyn said it was fine also!
I hope you feel better and get some rest soon.

My 4 month previous has purely suffered from the comparable yet is plenty extra acceptable now. I gave him calpol and Ibuprofen (0.25ml each 4 hours). in the adventure that your toddler isn't breastfed i'd advise giving some cooled boiled water to quit de-hydration. I went to the scientific docs just to envision my toddler over and he became wonderful, no longer something serious yet placed my ideas at relax. lots of cuddles! Saline drops additionally helped his snuffly nostril and that i offered a calpol plug in vapour. wish that helps somewhat?!

Rest as much as you can. Are you taking any medicine? You are allowed to take sudafed, chlor trimeton, you can use nose spray and nose drops. You can take cough syrups like robitussin cough drops and lozenges. Make sure you drink alot of liquids so you don't dehydrate. And again rest is very important

The only cold medicine you can take is robitussin, and regular strentgh tylenol. You can also take some sinus medicines, just ask the doc or pharmisist. They wont let you stay sick just cause your pregnant you just have to take the weak stuff.

Call your doctor, but I know you can use nasal sprays they don't take the cold out, but helps to have a good night sleep.
