What do I need to get on post?
When visiting Fort Benning, visitors must use the visitor lane where designated at Fort Benning access control points. Each driver must present a valid driver’s license and vehicle registration. If the vehicle is a rental you must present a rental agreement instead of the registration. When going through the gate, everyone over 16 years old must present a government-issued picture ID such a driver’s license, passport or state ID.

You will need driver's licenses or government-issued ID for all visitors over the age of 16. If the kids are younger than that, it shouldn't be a problem. Military kids don't even get military IDs until they are 10 years old.

You will also have to show your vehicle registration and proof of insurance (or the rental agreement if it is a rental). They will issue you a visitor's pass so that you can get on post. I'm not sure if they will issue passes at every gate, or if you have to go to a specific gate to get one. It differs from place to place. If you go to the "main" gate (ask at your hotel or somewhere, they should be able to tell you), you should be fine.

Speaking of that, I'd reserve a hotel now if you haven't already. At my husband's graduation, we had to stay 2 towns over because the hotels near Ft Knox were full.

My sister's boyfriend is graduating that same day - small world.

Enjoy your time with your soldier!

Hi! Congrats on your son's graduation! :)

As for IDs, you, your husband, your daughter-in-law and anyone over 18 will need an ID. Driver's licenses work absolutely fine. It is very unlikely that they will ask for any sort of identification for the children. If you want to be extra sure, however, bring a copy of birth certificates or the children's school IDs (As you mentioned). Good luck & have fun!! :)

You and any parent/guardian are required to have Photo ID and anyone over age 18. A driver's license will do just fine. However, I don't believe your children will need to have this.

If you're worried (and in the current security climate extra measures may have been taken) bring their birth certs with you and this should be good enough.

Congratulations to your son for this achievement!

When I was in it was an open post so I cannot help you. But I wish to send my thanks from one Benning graduate to another! Tell your son good luck and "put your faith in the Lord and keep your powder dry!"

DL's will be just fine. I don't think they'll be ID'ing your kids, but anything would help.
