It is actually recommended. Nuts can go rancid very quickly. I would even recommend freezing pine nuts.

Here is some info that I found
Light, heat and moisture facilitate enzymes in nuts
and seeds causing rancidity. This makes it inappropriate
to keep nuts for a long time in open bowls, clear glass jars
or on sunny counter tops.

Any nuts or seeds kept for longer than a month should
be stored in the freezer. Freeze chopped, ground, whole,
roasted or spiced nuts in the shell or even in an unopened
can. Nuts that are salted or spiced have a freezer
storage life of six months, about half the time that
plain nut meats can be stored in the freezer. Seeds also
freeze for six months. Toasting and roasting diminish
freezer storage life, and are best done when the nuts and
seeds come out of the freezer, rather than before freezing;
unless you intend to freeze them for only a few months.
Unless freezer space is limited, it's best to freeze nuts
in their shells, and crack them as needed. Use nuts and
seeds directly from the freezer, without thawing first.

Instead of freezing, try just storing them in the fridge. They will kep a loooong time this way and wont become chewy. I store all my nuts for baking in on of my veggie crispers in my fridge an they never seem to go bad.

Yes, but they become cold and very hard to chew. Food people say that you shouldn't freeze nuts, but if you want to you can.

Absolutely - just make sure you put them in a ziptop bag with as much air as possible out of the bag. Freezing them keeps their essential oils locked in. It shouldn't take long to defrost, and if you're toasting them, just give them an extra minute or two in the oven or saute pan.

Walt Disney is frozen, and he was a bit of a maniacal nut. He left employee instructional videos for his empire to use after his death, and told them to thaw him out once technology caught up.

I apologize for veering off topic, but the title of your question gave me a giggle like no other. It sounds like something you'd shout instead of cursing.
