EIC is a credit for certain people who work. U may be able to take it if a child lived with u and u earned less than $36,348-if married filing jointly $38,348 or a child did not live with u and u earned less than $12,120 or married filing jointly $14,120.

You need to be the head of household and have at least ONE qualifying child to get Earned Income Credit... if you have a program like TurboTax then it will have "help" on the subject.. if you are doing the paper tax thing.. the booklet will have the qualifications someplace in it.
