we never dated and he knew I used to have feelings but he had a gf at the time. Now hes back after not speaking or seeing me for a year. What do I think? Is he just lonely...I mean I am over him and would love to have him as a friend, but i dont think he wants the same.

sounds like the ball is in YOUR court now. You do what YOU feel is comfortable. If he doesn't like it, then he wasn't worthy of your friendship to begin with.

Does he have a gf now? If not then you step in and take your shot but just approach it slow. Act as if you're meeting him for the first time, but you have his resume and know what he's all about. Why wouldn't he want to be your friend? What do you have to lose by giving a kind word and a slight glance?
