over a week ago i got my tooth a back one extracted but since then the swelling is still here! the gum is out in a bubble like form that looks like an abcess, and i am gettin a little scared!
i am due back at the dentist next week to get another one out but this has put me off!
can anyone tell me if this is normal after an ectraction after a week?

This is bad. You have an infection and need antibiotics now. Call the dentist, tell her/him what you have. Tell him/her to order you some antibiotics now.

The dentist may want to have you in IMMEDIATELY to see if there is anything that can be drained off.

If that dentist will not give you antibiotics - IMMEDIATELY (same day) get another dentist for a second opinion. You will get the antibiotics then.

Typically the doctor doesn't extract without first giving you Pen VK or E Mycin for several days before and after. Did you get any antibotics, if not call the doctor as ask if you can get a prescription provided you are not allergic to Penicllin.

Call your dentist and get him to advise you. You may have an infection in the socket. Call today and get peace of mind.

you might have what is called dry socket or it could be an infection in the socket you need to call the dentist and advise him of what is going on . good luck .

Yes it takes about 3 weeks to heal completely,nd please dont go for another one till this one is healed .
