As I've said in many places, I've been assigned to the Middle East while serving in the US military and have met or seen easily tens of thousands of Muslims, and none of them were violent, nor did I ever encounter ill-will from them.

I've always had enough respect for Muslims to offer the benefit of the doubt when everyone else around me is learning to hate them, including in my own family. In fact, I've defended Muslims at the cost of my relationship with my sister.

Responses that I've had from Muslims here tonight are putting my judgment in question.

My friends, the world is quickly learning to hate you because Muslim vioilence is occuring in about 20 different countries around the world, all unprovoked, and all the most vile and disgusting violence imaginable.

This is your chance to take a stand and lend respect to your religion.

Do you, or do you not, support your own religion's right to decimate women and children in the streets of their cities?

Be convincing.

u7w21i1ol: Thank you for the site, I'll check it out.

Meanwhile, take note of other Muslims here who refuse to renounce violence, and take note of yourself and for foolishly thinking that America is the aggressor in Iraq. You surely didn't think that 5 years ago with the blood of hundreds of thousands of Kurds flowing from the north, did you?

You get no credibility for criticizing Americans who liberate Arabs and Muslims and restoring power to them and for silence on the savages fresh in your own memory.

Wafer: The reason why Osama Bin Laden attacked the US on September 11 was because he thought we would never fight back. There was no provocation. He said so himself in an interview.

The reason why Black September started the civil war in Lebanon in the 70's was because they were kicked out of Jordan in September, 1977, and they named their organization for the event. The Lebonese never provoked them.

Why are Muslims murdering people in India? What was the provocation?

Why are Muslims murdering people in Thailand?

Why are Muslims murdering people in the Philippines?

Why are Muslims murdering people in Indonesia?

Somalia?

Kenya?

Darfur?

Southern Sudan?

Did American start all these wars? Did Israel provoke them?

There is only one common denominator:

Muslim terrorism.

As an American Muslim, I completely stand against what the radical groups of the Middle East are doing. These groups take the teachings of the Qur'an too far. Yes, the Qur'an says to fight your enemies and kill those who oppose you, BUT it also mentions that this is reserved for times of war. If an enemy wishes to have peace, we are supposed to lay down our weapons and offer peace in return. The radical groups in the Middle East are not true Muslims otherwise they would understand this.

As-Salaamu Alaikum - Peace be upon you

If you were assigned to the Middle East and have interacted with easily tens of thousands of Muslims, then you should have known the fact that Islams condemns violence and killing of the innocent.

Yes, many Muslims are vile, violent and terribly brainwashed to committing violence 'in the name of Islam'. What are they thinking? Islam's name is going down the drain because of their actions.

Don't let the actions of extremists (I don't even consider them Muslims as they have crossed the border of Islam) judge your opinion on Islam that you once had in the Middle East!

I take a stand against these terrorists! I renouce all the violence!

However, Islam does not decimate women and children in the streets of their cities?

VIOLENCE DOES NOT EXIST BECAUSE OF RELIGION, IT EXISTS BECAUSE OF INJUSTICE

Correct me if I'm wrong but most muslim violence is a consequence of wrongful treatment at the hands of an outside power. Lets see where do you see violence occurring the most? Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Palestine, Lebanon, Kashmir and others. You cannot say that it is unprovoked. It is provoked, it happens because of perceived injustices that the muslims see around them. I am not saying here that it is justified in any way, but you cannot say that it does not have a reason behind it. In other regions where you see such violence, it is the direct result of poverty, frustration, lack of access to education, to basic health and job opportunities and the perceived corruption of their governments. This plays right in to the hands of subversive elements who say that violence is the way out of these problems. Why do so few muslim countries have democratic governments, not because muslims don't want democracy, but because most western powers find it easier to control and to deal with dictatorial regimes rather than popular governments. Thats why you see so many governments in the Middle east, Asia, Africa and others being run by the military or civilian dictators.

Its very easy to blame all these problems on religion rather than going in to history and finding the real reason why there is so much instability in the world. Developed countries spend so much just on the grooming of their pets that the money if utilised to feed the poor could eliminate world hunger. The developed world advocates free trade and movement of goods and capital but restricts movement of people in search of a better living.

The real problem stems from the Haves of the world trying to keep to themselves what they Have and deny it to the Have nots. Until this power struggle does not end violence will not end.

I repeat: VIOLENCE DOES NOT EXIST BECAUSE OF RELIGION, IT EXISTS BECAUSE OF INJUSTICE.

They're too busy protesting against cartoon drawings of Muhammad to be concerned with things like terrorism or suicide-bombings. Silly Muhammad cartoons are more "evil" to them than any car bombing that kills 300.
