Whats the water sefice?

You've broken the surface tension on the water. Water binds together and forms droplets. Soap breaks the binds.

That's why we use soap to wash up. It helps spread water around and make it pick up dirt and clean more efficiently. (Otherwise it would just bind together too much and not lift or shift stains.)

Sorry -- this is not really an answer because you didn't really have a question. I'm just saying this!

Something else to try that is kind of neat.
It is also a learning exercise.

Take a pin and a small piece of tissue paper.
Place the pin on top of the tissue and place them in the water.
The tissue will float, holding the pin from sinking.
Then, gently push the tissue, so it goes to the bottom.
The pin will float.
(The pin holds small air bubles that keep it floating)

It takes a little patience and practice, but it shows how you can make a compass out of simple things. I learned it in the military.

You will have to leave it sit for a while so it can adjust to North and South.

Its fun but no magic...its only physics... when you put washing up liquid you actually add an "oily" product and then of course...... wont tell what happends LOL
