Last August, I went to the African Braid Gallery and they took at least 4 hours to braid my entire head and I paid them $200 and they looked so nice. They lasted almost 3 1/2 months A lot girls at my school were telling me that they looked so nice and well-done but I could spend less on a hair stlye. i went to a non-african brading shop and the stlyist took 0ver 10 hours and she keep on taking breaks every 30 mins and the braids didn't last too lomg and I paid $135 for them.

You didnt really say how long the second set lasted.
lets say that they did last for only 2.5 months and you paid $135 bucks and the first set lasted for 3.5 months and you paid $200 bucks, that is about the same, time not withstanding.
YOu went and tried it their way but if you are happy with your service and the amount of time you spent vs price, who gives a rats azz what they think about it!

your 'friends' need to mind their own business and YOU need to trust yourself and your own judgements.
Whatever you are happy with is the MOST important thing
I would personally do EXACTLY what you did and make my OWN decisions.
The next time you see some braids that you like, it would be appropriate to ask her where she got them done but dont get all into price and all of that, just call and go check it out yourself.
(they could be jealous of you)

Good braids should last about three months but price has nothing to do with it. The type of hair human or synthetic have a great deal to do with it. My wife prefers the Africans because they usually have more than one person doing you at a time so it does take so long

I think that 200 is a fair price considering how fast they did it and how long that it lasted you. Sometimes you have to pay more to get good quality.
