You are confused with the Opium War, championed by England to force China open its borders to sell opium.
England trader of Opium, they buy it from India and sell it in Shanghai.
Great Nation huh!

No, the Vietnam war was not about Opium. It was a mistake that cost the lives of many.
There are several websites out there for you to view and learn from. However, there is always the public library. I realize reading a book is something that may cause anaphylactic reactions in most young people, but give it a try.

Heavens, no. The problem was in the US concept of thinking of communism as a monolithic bloc. Ho was pro-American at one point, and was pushed into the communist camp by an American policy that was worse than naive. Had we (as history seems to support would have been appropriate) told the French to go pee up a rope, the whole mess could have been avoided, and Vietnam could have been a strong American ally.

Not true. It was about the Russians testing the democrats will to fight to win. How do you have a de-militarized zone in a war zone? By appeasement. That is what the democrats are all about. Trying to do good through appeasement. Over 53,000 Americans died for appeasement. The people of this country were tired of our soldiers being killed for appeasement. It was a conflict that the democrats did not want to win from the beginning.
Look at what happened when Clinton gave N. Korea 1/4 of a billion dollars just to behave and not develop nuclear weapons. N. Korea used the money to make the weapons and now want us to pay him not to use them. Appeasement does not work and communism does not work.

Probably you are referring to the fact that so many American GI's became addicted to heroin during their tour of duty in Vietnam. It is also a fact that CIA operatives in South Vietnam used Air-America planes to pick-up heroin from the Golden Triangle (bordered by Burma-Thailand-Laos), fly back to South Vietnam, then load the heroin cargo into U.S. naval ships for shipment back to the States.

WHAT stupid person gave you that information.
The Vietnam war was not about drugs.
It was about our Government not mining there own business
and fighting a war that was not ours.
Our soldiers died for no good reason just like this war going on now.
