at least every 4 weeks but since you should trim your hair every 6 weeks it is better to wait until you get the trim before you dye it. Or you will get alot of dead ends and it could dry it out really bad

I use to strip my hair then wait a day or 2 then dye it red. Did this every month to every 2 months for 10 years before it stopped taking dye.

I have to color my roots every 3-4 weeks, and I pull it down through the rest of my hair the last 5 minutes to refresh the color (it fades no matter what I do). It works for me. As for 'how many years', I hope for as many years as I have left, cuz I sure don't want to be grey. I don't think there's a time limit for that.

Don't dye your hair too much, it really harms your hair. I don't know how often is okay though.
