Police work does not get left at the "office" the things that cops see and do is not easily turned off. Cops have to be able to turn off their emotions and fears when they hit the street and turn them back on when they go home. This is where the problem begins it gets hard to turn back on and have a normal life. That is why cops have a high rate of divorce, alcoholism, suicide. They see more crap in month the most people see in a lifetime

Well as a retired cop I can say that as a cop I NEVER brought my work home with me. It was work and it stayed there. There was NO need to come home and discuss anything with the old lady. As such my old lady was and is comfortable with my feelings on this and she never pried into anything. And yes she did offer her shoulder so to speak as I could talk with her IF I wanted to.
