I have an unexplained rash. It is red and blotchy and all over my arms and legs but does not itch. I have already seen my GP, and have been for a blood test, the results for which I am now waiting for. Just wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar and whether it could maybe be something to do with the contraceptive pill I'm taking (I have been on this for 4 months and the doctor says it is highly unlikely that the rash is a reaction to my contraceptive.)
But if anyone has any information or has experienced anything similar I would be interested and grateful to hear about it. I wonder whether I should stop taking it while I'm waiting for the test results just to see if it has any effect on the rash?

Well...
someone wrote a review on Cerazette...

-----------------
Spotting (irregular light vaginal bleeding); cessation of period; acne; breast pain/enlargement; headache; depression; nausea; decreased libido; weight gain; difficulties in wearing contact lenses; ovarian cysts; hair loss; vaginal infections; painful periods; tiredness; skin rashes and vomiting.

My experience:

(go to the website to read the rest of what happened to her)
Recently, I've been getting weird bouts of nausea and odd, symmetrical rashes on my legs - no idea if this is to do with the pill, but it does seem as if my body has decided to go through the WHOLE list of side-affects. Now all I have to look forward to is acne, headache, ovarian cysts, vomiting, painful periods and my hair falling out. GREAT....

on this website, someone tells of all the problems she had with it

it also says that a side effect of this pill is Itchy rash (urticaria)
which is...
(from the website http://www.urticaria.com/)
Urticaria or hives, is a common allergic problem experiences by over 20% of the world population, some time or the other, in life. The conventional treatment with the use of antihistaminic or steroids, help but for a short time.

Homeopathy offers promising results for chronic or recurring urticaria. which is safe, works at the deeper level of immunity and it is made available online.

hope this helped....

Any drug can cause allergy type problems and almost every one has rashes listed as possible side effects on its data sheet so it is certainly not impossible.

However I would agree with the general comment that they are not often seen with contraceptive pills.

If your GP is unable to identify any other cause and the rash persists there will be no option but to try a period off the pill to see if this settles it.
